Le Liban sans retouche

The book published by us in collaboration with Houda Kassatly at the end of 2015 is part of a retrospective on the work of Roland Sidawy who dedicated a big part of his life taking photographs of Lebanese rural people and landscapes of Lebanon.

Roland Sidawy was born in Egypt in the first decade of the 20th century. During the fifties, he moved to Lebanon where he worked as a pharmacist. But it is indeed photography that played the biggest role in his life, and he left us with many black and white images of Lebanon from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. This book shows us part of the large body of work of this magician of light: landscapes and people of a rural world still well preserved.
