Biography

Born in Saint-Étienne in 1957, Jean-Daniel Bouvard moved to Paris 19-years-later to study architecture. After graduating in 1984 and completing a few months training, his desire to paint took over him. He has devoted himself to the arts over the course of his lifetime.

He has been exhibiting his work across the world since 1986. He’s exhibited his work in Paris, in the provinces of France and in the United States, most-notably in New York, a city that has been housing his craft for over three decades.

In 1991, he received the Paul-Louis Weiller Portrait Prize from the Academy of Fine Arts and in 1995, he was awarded the Gabriel Ollivier Prize from the Prince Pierre Foundation of Monaco.

He has participated in several group shows including SACEM (Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music) and Colas Foundation. He has also hosted hosted numerous solo exhibitions in Europe and the United States

Jean-Daniel Bouvard currently resides in Paris. He often travels to southern countries for inspiration, with a paintbrush in hand.

The artist explores a wide range of themes in his paintings, with his style leaning more towards unity and sovereignty. His work is nevertheless far more dynamic and complex than it seems.

Bouvard strives to create equilibrium and a sense of harmony to portray a mood or atmosphere. His colors are muted but complex. By personal convictions, he brings another world to life – where everyday mysteries and poetry rediscover elegance.

Jean-Daniel Bouvard’s work will be displayed at Galerie Cheriff Tabet by end of year 2018.
